Founded by David Carr, Impact Collision Forensics leverages decades of real-world investigative experience and state-of-the-art forensic technology to provide reliable and defensible results for attorneys, insurance companies, investigators, and reconstruction professionals.
David Carr, a retired Vehicular Crimes Detective and Certified Arizona Peace Officer, has over 20 years of law enforcement experience. Throughout his career, he responded to thousands of traffic collisions, ranging from property-damage incidents to complex multiple-fatality crashes. He served 13 years full-time on a Vehicular Crimes Squad, specializing in the investigation of high-profile, fatal, serious-injury, DUI, hit-and-run, and city-liability collisions.
During his tenure, David conducted extensive Event Data Recorder (EDR) downloads and analyses, scene investigations, vehicle inspections, and forensic testing—often leading to expert testimony in various court proceedings. He collaborated with traffic engineers and professional reconstruction organizations on research projects involving acceleration and deceleration testing, site obstruction analysis, pedestrian collisions, and child restraint safety, further showcasing his vehicle data expertise.
Since retiring from the City of Glendale, David has continued his work as a private Collision Reconstructionist, Impairment Expert, and EDR Specialist, consulting independently and alongside engineering firms like Augspurger Komm Engineering, Inc. His services are sought by law firms, insurance companies, municipalities, and reconstruction experts involved in complex cases requiring advanced collision analysis.
David has completed thousands of hours of advanced training through respected institutions like the Institute of Police Technology and Management (IPTM) and the Northwestern University Center for Public Safety. He actively participates in leading professional organizations, such as SATAI (Southwestern Association of Traffic Accident Investigators), NAPARS (National Association of Professional Accident Reconstruction Specialists), INCR (International Network of Collision Reconstructionists), and SAE International (Society of Automotive Engineers).
In addition to field investigations, David has been involved in 27 instrumented crash tests and demonstrations, with findings published in the Accident Reconstruction Journal and Collision Magazine. He has also presented at EDR Summit conferences and contributed to industry publications focused on crash research and forensic analysis, underscoring his commitment to advancing forensic technology.
